Artists for The Residence at Melbourne Music Week announced
The Residence, which takes place during Melbourne Music Week in November, showcases the best of Australia’s emerging talent.
This year there will be an audio-visual collaboration between Canyons and visual artist Daniel Boyd. Titled “100 Million Nights”, the collaborative piece will be making its first ever Melbourne appearance, following shows at GoMA in Brisbane and MoNA in Hobart.
Supporting this act will be Roland Tings, pop duo
Standish/CarlyonAndras Fox (live) and Shining Bird and Club Mod DJs with the beats.

Nick Batterham album launch
Closing Time at Yah Yah’s is Melbourne singer-songwriter Nick Batterham’s new album, following his 2010 release Second Lovers.
To celebrate the release, Nick and a full band will be launching the album on Sunday October 6 at The Workers Club with a special matinee show.
Joining him for the launch will be local acts Jimmy Hawk and Tim Guy.
So make sure to head to the launch to support Nick with his new album. Entry is $10 and doors will open at 1:30pm.
I OH YOU announce 4th birthday celebration as part of Melbourne Music Week
Record label I OH YOU has just announced they will be throwing a huge 4th birthday celebration as part of Melbourne Music Week!
The party will take place on Saturday 16th November inside the Flagstaff Train Station.
Performing on the night will be Yacht Club DJs, Ballarat band Gold Fields who are currently on a tour in the US, Melbourne bands Northeast Party House, City Calm Down and Neon Love from Ballarat. DJ sets on the night will be by SNKDKTL DJs, Indian Summer and Acolyte.

Melbourne’s newest soul night – Smith Street Soul Train
The Grace Darling Hotel is hosting Melbourne's newest soul night - the Smith Street Soul Train.
The 12 piece band will be playing every Tuesday night from September 10 performing classical and current soul tunes.
So make sure to head to The Grace Darling Hotel for a 12 piece live band plus soul DJs. Doors open at 8pm, entry is $8.
The Ugly Kings EP launch
Melbourne band The Ugly Kings have just released their first EP! To celebrate, the band will be performing at Cherry Bar on Saturday September 21.
Special guests on the night will be Rumour Control, Stone Revival and Tane. So make sure to head to Cherry Bar to support The Ugly Kings.
Limited copies of their EP will be available on the door at the night.
Rezume to perform in Melbourne
The most successful metal act to come out of Bali, Rezume, are heading to Melbourne to release their debut album Fragment of Blessedness Spermicide.
Also performing on the night will be Whoretopsy, The Ophidian Ascension and Iconic Vivisect.
So make sure to head to The Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne on Friday September 6.
London Bureau take first major release on the road
Brisbane rock band London Bureau have finally put the finishing touches on their first major release Fools.
After debuting the album in Brisbane in August, London Bureau is now taking it on the road, and will be performing in Melbourne at the Ding Dong Lounge on September 12.
So make sure to head to Ding Dong Lounge to support London Bureau when they perform their first EP.
Tales in Space hit The Espy
Two member elctro-dynamo-pomo-disco rock Sydney band Tales in Space have just released their first single “Shades” from their forthcoming debut album.
The duo will be performing at The Espy Front Bar with special guests
Lamarama, Red X and Jack Stirling.
So make sure to head to The Espy on Saturday 12 October. And best of all, the entry is free!
Joe Creighton brings "Into The Mystic - The Songs of Van Morrison" to Melbourne
Bass player Joe Creighton will be bringing his sell out show "Into The Mystic - The Songs of Van Morrison" to The Yarraville Club on Friday 27 September. Creighton and his seven piece band will play homage to Van Morrison, with the show moving effortlessly from decade to decade, showcasing Van Morrison's journey.

The Primary perform October residency at the Grace Darling
Melbourne post/punk band The Primary have secured a Thursday night residency at the Grace Darling basement throughout October.
Every Thursday throughout October they will be performing with three support bands from Melbourne.
Entry is $5 and doors open at 9pm.

This Friday night Weekender will be celebrating the new Arctic Monkeys album AM by playing a stack of their songs.
There will also be CD giveaways as well as a mini Kasabian special and the best of indie rock from the Strokes.

Redro Redriguez and His Inner Demons launch new single
Dave “Red” Whip has been involved with the music industry for 20 years. Now he is launching his new record label Redro Records and is releasing a new single by Redro Redriguez and His Inner Demons called “Good Times.”
The single will be launched at The Lyrebird on Saturday September 21.
Support on the night will be The Black Hills and Tim Hulsman.

Claire Birchall album launch
Clair Birchall will be hitting up Post Office Hotel to launch her new album Captain Captain.

Sheriff launch new EP
Melbourne blues-rock band Sheriff will be releasing their second EP in a few weeks!
To celebrate, there will be a huge launch party at the Tote on Saturday 21 September. The night will feature 9 bands across two stages.
This is definitely not a night to be missed, so make sure to head to the Tote for a night jam packed full of entertainment.
Hard-Ons perform at The Espy
The Hard-Ons have been around for over 30 years, and have had 17 consecutive number ones on independent charts in Australia.
Now they are reissuing two of their original LPs; Smell My Finger and Dickcheese, which will be presented as double CD remastered sets.
Hard-ons will also be performing tracks from these albums live. Make sure to head to The Espy on Saturday 5 October to relive the albums.
